WAN - Turkish police told a 17-year-old girl that "we'll give you to ISIS if you don't talk" as part of torturing her under arrest.
Turkish police have detained a 17-year-old girl on charges of being a "member of an illegal organization." The girl remains detained in the largely Kurdish province of Van. The girl told her family and lawyers that police tortured her. As part of the torture, they also threatened her with surrendering her to Daesh (ISIS). Other prisoners in Van's M-Type prison have reported police using similar threats.
Emin Şeker is the provincial director for TUAD-DER, a group that supports prisoners and their families. Emin reported that police pulled a sack over the girl's head. When she refused to provide information, they threatened to surrender her to Daesh.
"We also learned from her family that she was beaten several times while under arrest," said Emin. The teenage girl was also strip-searched.
