AMED - For four days, residents of a Diyarbakır neighborhood have maintained a vigil to stop police violence. Last night, women took over the vigil.

Four days ago, neighborhood residents and political representatives started a peace vigil in the Diyarbakır neighborhood of Hasırlı. The goal of the vigil is to stop the police raids and violence in the area. Last night, a group of neighborhood women and women activists marched to the vigil.

Women spent the night singing songs together and dancing late into the night. Women often ululated and erupted into chants of "women, life, freedom."
