Police assassinate three young men in Silopi

ŞIRNEX - Police have assassinated three young men in the town of Silopi, in Northern Kurdistan (in Turkey).
The ruling AKP in Turkey continues police attacks in the town of Silopi. At 2:00 a.m. Sunday, three youth took refuge from police in a neighborhood resident's home. Special operations police officers blockaded the home. Then, they entered and assassinated the three young men the house. Two of the victims have been identified as 20-year-old Ali Ödük and 21-year-old Halil Can.
By the time sun rose on the town, police had blockaded the entirety of Silopi. Police and snipers were posted in every neighborhood. Local residents attempted to hold a march to protest the killing, but police opened fire with live ammunition on the march.
Halil's father Mehmet denounced mainstream news that tried to portray victim Halil Can as a terrorist. His son sold vegetables to support 17 family members, he said. "They killed a young boy here," said Mehmet.
"They're opening fire on the people," said Faysal Sarıyıldız, Parliamentary representative Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP). "As long as [police special operations officers] are here, people will be tense. At this point, we don't have the audacity to call for them to have good sense and remain calm."
