DÊRÎK - 35 women from the Dêrîk region of Rojava have completed military training and are now prepared to defend their neighborhoods and villages from attacks.

In the Cizîrê Canton of the Rojava autonomous region in Syria, women organized into communes in their neighborhoods and villages as part of the ongoing Rojava revolution. Communes formed defense committees and assigned commune members to learn self-defense.

35 women in the Dêrîk region have now completed a two-week training in weapons and tactics. They have been declared members of the local Social Defense Forces (HPC) at a ceremony in Dêrîk. They will now return to their villages and neighborhoods.
