SÊRT - People did peace vigil action last night in the city of Siirt in Turkey for September 1, World Peace Day in Turkey.

The Siirt regional organizations of the People's Democratic Party (HDP) and Democratic Region Party (DBP) started a one-night peace vigil against the AKP's war concept. HDP's Siirt city co-mayor Abdullah Çetin said, "We are here to stop the war in Turkey and Kurdistan. We are calling people who made the decision for war to give another chance to peace and to stop the war immediately."

The peace vigil action finished this morning after a press statement. Kamuran Kalkan made the statement. He said, "We are calling people again on September 1, World Peace Day. Our problems are political. They should fix the problems in democratic political ways and they should take a step to reach concrete results for a solution and peace."
Kamuran also said, "The Kurdish people took big steps for an honorable peace after a long and painful period for equality, justice and freedom. Our people are not responsible for what is happening today. The one trying to make people enemies of each other because of their different ethnic identity, different cultures and beliefs is the dominant approach.
"We believe our voice for peace will reach from west to east. We should be with the people who are resisting in Kobanê and Rojava for peace. And we should act in solidarity with the people who are suffering because of the civil war in Syria," Kamuran said.
