Turkish soldier rapes Palestinian woman at Syrian border

NEWS CENTER - A Palestinian woman has called for justice for a Turkish soldier who raped her as she tried to cross the Syrian-Turkish border.
On August 22, L.B. tried to cross the Syrian-Turkish border along with her father and brother. She has told Sputnik News that she was raped at the border in the village of Güveççi, located in the Hatay province of Turkey. Soldiers raped L.B. and tortured her father and brother, then sent the family back to Syria. The family has now returned to Turkey to file charges. "I want the soldier who raped me to be charged so that what happened to me doesn't happen to anyone else," said L.B. L.B. said that the incident had left her severely psychologically effected.
"I wanted to cross to Turkey with my children in order to escape the war in Syria," L.B.'s father, A.B., said in his testimony to the court. "Two meters after we had crossed the border fence in the Güveççi village along with others, a soldier controlling the crossing suddenly shouted at me and violently pulled me by my collar." The soldier brutalized the man, who tripped and fell into a trench with his daughter. The soldier descended into the trench and punched A.B. A.B. then passed out.
When A.B. woke up, his daughter was gone. He began to walk, but ran into Turkish soldiers. After they forced him to the ground and searched him, then violently forced him across the border. There, A.B. found his children. His daughter related that a Turkish soldier had raped her.
The family are currently staying with relatives in Turkey's Hatay province as the investigation continues.
