WAN - The Turkish state has begun an investigation into Tuğa Hezer, a representative for the left Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP), for attending the funeral of a woman guerrilla.

Sıdıka Yıldız (nom de guerre Destan Rustem) was a member of the YJA STAR women's guerilla forces. After she lost her life in a clash, Sıdıka was buried by a crowd of thousands in her native village in Van province. Tuğba Hezer, who represents Van for the HDP, was present at the funeral.

Now, the Turkish state prosecutor in the Başkale area of Van has opened an investigation against Tuğba on charges of "making propaganda for an illegal organization."
