MUĞLA - Today, a funeral is scheduled for the two young boys whose bodies were famously photographed washed up on the beach in Turkey.
Aylan Kurdi; his older brother Galip Kurdi; and their mother Zahin Kurdi lost their lives while trying to cross the Mediterranean Sea in a rubber dinghy with their family. The Kurdi family had fled from the war affecting the city of Kobanê, in the Rojava autonomous region in Syria. They were heading for Greece's Kos Island from Turkey when their boat capsized. The two boys became famous after photographs of their lifeless bodies spread on social media.
Yesterday, the boys' father, Abdullah Kurdi, retrieved the bodies. Abdullah Kurdi spoke to the press at the Istanbul airport yesterday as he retrieved the bodies. He described the moment when his children slipped from his hands.
Abdullah will bury his wife and two children today with a funeral in Kobanê.
