Teenage girl shot by police still fighting to survive

AMED - 14-year-old Berfin Ökten, shot by police while sleeping next to her mother in the Kurdish town of Silopi, Turkey, remains at risk of death in urgent care.
On August 31, Berfin Ökten was sleeping on the roof of her home with her mother in the town of Silopi, in the Şırnak province of Turkey. Turkish state snipers shot both of them, killing Berfin’s mother. Berfin was rushed to hospital in the city of Diyarbakır, several provinces away.
Doctors at the city’s Dicle University Hospital reported yesterday that Berfin’s life remains in danger. Berfin, who was shot in her left shoulder, is in urgent care.
