DIRBÊSIYÊ - As the AKP implements a new policy of war in Kurdistan, women of the Rojava city of Dirbêsîyê have not remained silent. They stated that they would stand in solidarity with the Kurdish people against the AKP’s oppression.
The women of Dirbêsîyê, which is located in the Jazira Canton of the Rojava autonomous region in Syria, reacted to the AKP’s recent actions. One of the heads of the Organization of Martyrs’ Families, Heyet Yûnis, said that the Kurdish people do not accept the oppression of the state.
“We have been struggling for years. The Kurdish people will not accept oppression anywhere and they will struggle at the risk of their lives. Struggle strengthens our belief and manifests our willpower,” Heyet said. “The announcements of self-government in Northern Kurdistan is the result of struggle. Northern Kurdistan is a pioneer for the four parts of Kurdistan; Rojava [Western Kurdistan], Southern Kurdistan and Rojhilat [Eastern Kurdistan] will support Northern Kurdistan as well.
“The government of the AKP wants to destroy the Kurdish people’s willpower. They need to know that the Kurdish people have been struggling against Daesh for four years and defeated them. No power can preclude the people’s demands,” said Heyet. She called on the AKP to end the assault in Kurdistan and recognize the demand for autonomous self-government there. “We will always support the peaceful demands of the people,” said Heyet.
Yekitiya Star member Bedîa Erebo saluted the resistance of the Kurdish people.
“Northern Kurdistan lost many lives in the history of the Kurdish people’s struggle. The people of Northern Kurdistan did not abandon the people of Rojava in the process of revolution, and we women of Rojava will try to do our best,” she said. “The AKP did not accept its own fall and assaulted the people. They need to know that the Kurdish question cannot be solved with massacres and oppression.”
Hemide Omre, member of the Organization of Martyrs’ Families, said that, “We salute the autonomy of the Northern Kurdistan and give our condolences to martyrs’ families. We will struggle as long as we have the power to. Our hearts are with the people of Northern Kurdistan. As the women of Rojava, we will stand with the people’s resistance.”
