Women take up self-defense against assaults

EFRÎN – As the al-Nusra Front and Daesh continue to assault Rojava, women are taking self-defense courses to resist the attacks.

In Rojava, where assaults by armed groups have increased as the revolution has continued, women are receiving education in self-defense.

Women in Rojava have organized every area of life. As they build a new life,they also improve their capacity for self-defense against assaults. Recently, local people have started to take precautions in Rojava’s Efrîn Canton against the assaults of the al-Nusra Front.

15 women will join the defense of the village of Semala, located in the Reco district of Efrîn. The Women’s Protection Units (YPJ) have given the women education for a month. Women learned about the usage and characteristics of weapons and about self-defense tactics.
