Many children wounded, 1 child dead in Bismil

AMED - The Turkish state declared a curfew in the district of Bismil yesterday. Police and soldiers attacked the Avaşin Neighborhood, and a bomb fell on a house. A child was killed; her mother and four children were wounded. The mother’s situation is serious.

Eight-year-old Elif Şimşek was killed in the blockaded Avaşin neighborhood of the town of Bismil as a bomb struck her home. Her mother, 40-year-old Bedia Şimşek, was wounded, as were the family’s other children: Avşin (11), Pelda (14), Ahmet (18) and Mehmet (19).

When the mother Bedia Şimşek was taken to hospital, her situation was very serious, and she was taken into surgery. Avşin, Pelda and Ahmet were taken into surgery. Mehmet was held under observation.

The curfew was lifted in Bismil late last night. Eight-year-old Elif’s body was buried in the village of Kopeklî (Kurudeğirmen) by thousands of people.
