WAN - Free Women’s Units (YJA STAR) guerrilla Keser Eltürk (Ekin Wan) was massacred by torture in the district of Varto. Women marched for Ekin Wan and honored her at her gravesite, led by Congress of Free Women (KJA).

Thousands of women came to the house of Ekin Wan’s family, and they held banners with the sentences “Ekin Wan is immortal” and “Women will not allow war”. The women marched to the guerrilla cemetery of Karşıyaka neighborhood, shouting slogans like “Comrade Ekin is immortal” and “We are on the side of peace as women”.

The people who came to the cemetery stood in silence for a minute. Then, co-chair of the city of Van branch of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP), Derya Hayva, emphasized that the AKP’s war was enacted on Ekin Wan’s body.

“Revolution is a long road. People make a choice at the start of their life. Either you will live honorably or you will die as nothing. Ekin Wan and other comrades lost their body for this honorable life. They lived short but honorably,” she said.

HDP Van parliamentary representative Tuğba Hezer spoke at the memorial.

“Ekin Wan’s body is the body of women who are in this struggle; her body is our body. Our struggle will continue against the state’s mentality,” Tuğba said.
