AMED - Member of the Congress of Free Women (KJA), Gülbahar Alsoy, called attention to assaults against civilians after autonomy announcements. Gülbahar said that the AKP tried to reflect autonomy announcements as war announcements. She also said that women will increase their struggle against the AKP’s destruction policy.
In democratic countries, societies conduct themselves, but in Turkey when Kurdish people want to autonomy, they are assaulted by the state. The AKP massacres women, children, old and young people because of their autonomy demands. They declared to 38-day-old baby from 75-year-old people as ‘terrorist’. The AKP showed their real face by massacring people in the city of Silvan and Nusaybin. Gülbahar Alsoy, member of the KJA, talked about women’s role in the autonomy and civil massacres.
Gülbahar said that their works purposed to autonomy for a democratic society.
“We carried works to create a women’s assembly within public’s assembly in Botan. In this basis, we started to work for organizing. When autonomy was announced, we had hard times. Autonomy announcements were reflected as war announcements. We focused on a dream to make it real. We carried works to fulfill our mothers’ and young women’s needs,” Gülbahar said.
“People think that autonomy is a war with weapons but this is not autonomy’s meaning. The state wants that people should know autonomy like this. Self-defense is not just defend themselves with arms. This is the last level,” she said. “Actually, self-defense is completely keeping themselves alive. Self-defense is right for women and young people. Political and ideological self-defense should be strengthened. We will create a system pioneering women in districts that they can make their decisions real.”
Gülbahar said that society’s vote will be for peace, and they will increase their struggle against all destruction policies.
