ŞIRNEX - Human shield action started 19 days ago in Mount Judi against assaults to guerilla’s cemeteries. 70-year-old Şêrîn joined the action, and she said that, “I am 70-year-old, I am trying to do my best. I wish my power could enough to stay in these mounts.”
Human shield action, which started in September 21, has continued against assaults to Cuma and Binevş guerilla’s cemetery located in the mount Judi in Şırnak. Human shields, who are from all ages, organized a commune life. We met with 70-year-old Şêrîn there. She came from İdil (Hezexê) to join the action. Şêrîn’s story is just one of the stories of women who struggle in Kurdistan.
Şêrîn lost her three children in war. Murders of the two of them are still unidentified. Şêrîn lost her son guerrilla İbrahim in the mount Bagok during a conflict.
“They tortured my son İbrahim for nine times. Soldiers went into our village, and they had occupied our school for six years. After six years, they killed İbrahim by torturing,” Şêrîn said. “İbrahim had eight children. They killed my son on the way of İdil (Hezexê), and they threw him to a cave. They burned my son Gıyasettin on the way of Nusaybin-Cizre in his car in March 21, 1988. In 1993, my other son fell a martyr in the mount Bagok.”
Şêrîn said that all people, who stays there, are her children, and she came there to protect them. She cannot to be able to do further.
“Turkish state is enemy to our dead. What we can do for them? We are here to the action for our children and land. We came there to keep watch for peace and a better world. We will do our best. All children are my children,” she said. “I am 70-year-old, and if I was younger, I stayed in the mounts. This is the mount of Kurdistan which is heritage from our fathers and grandfathers. Everyone is happy in their lands.”
