ŞIRNEX -The women who live in the district of Dergul spend a collective life. They stay away from the cancerous elements of city life. They say ' I produce and I consume'

The village women produce the tahina(ground sesame seeds) with their labor in the naturalness of life. In this way,they are continuing their tradition which turned into their culture and they play a part in the economy.

The women produce all ingredient of the tahina themselves. They gather around the fire and they help each other. They live in the nature without pressure of the technology and the masculine mentality. They bring the tahina to sell in the near districts and cities. The women said, " Our tahina is different than others because we produce all ingredient ourselves. They are inartificial. There isn't the additive inside them. We produce the sesame too.

We plant the sesame in the summer. We glean the sesame in the harvest time. We let them to rest for a while and then we put them in the water to peel off. The next step after drying is frying the sesame on the fire. Then we grind them in the mill. At the end we have our tahina.

'Producing tahina is a cultural heritage'

The owner of the mill, Ayşe said, " All women in the villages produce tahina. This mill has become a tradition for us. Each week one family comes here and they take their tahina from the mill. This mill was established with our labor.The mill is here for years. Producing tahina is a cultural heritage for us."

We produce the tahina and we don't need ask Money from anyone. We stand on our own feet.
