MÊRDÎN - Nusaybin district of Mardin broke the fifth curfew with its resistance. Adule Kılıç(85) lost her seven children in, with her own words " the struggle of honour" in 90's, said, " The major wound is in my left breast but we already learned to resist with our wounds."
Nusaybin ,the ancient civilization of Mesopotamia has witnessed to the popular resistance against the most serious attack in recent times. Nusaybin (Syriac: Nasibina-Sarbo, Arab: Nasibeyn, Kurdish: Nisebin) has been attacked by many states and empires in the history and it has been gone into division: Qamişlo and Nusaybin. Because of its resistance in 90's, it makes it's mark in history as Serhildan(revolt).
She stands alone as an example of resistance
Adule Kılıç, a kurdish woman who lost her seven children and many grandchildren in resistance is cited as an example of rebel of Kurdish women. She is living alone in house(one room)and she challenges to the attacks to neighborhood. When we asked her children, she said, " Don't ask them to me, they will come back to my memory again." And she started to tell us their stories while she was cried sobbingly. Adule's struggle life started when her eldest son Eyüp Kılıç joined to the PKK in 1986 and then she sacrificed her children: Bedrettin, Mülkiye, Ali, Aşikar and Vasfi for this cause. Let's listen her story from her.
They killed my son in front of me
The life which I lived is a pain in my right breast. In 1986, when the Hezbollah unfolded here, my son Eyüp joined the PKK so our family was directly blacklisted. My other son Bedrettin struggled for this cause. One day me and Bedrettin were walking to home suddenly Hezbollah confronted us and they started to shoot us. I tried to stop them from shooting my son. I tried to take their weapons they shot me in my right breast and they killed my son in front of me. He stayed on the ground wounded for minutes. I called everone to help him. I got knocked out cold. I found myself in the hospital in Diyarbakır. 25 days were passed when I woke up. No ones can take my son body, Hezbollah took his body, we haven't found his body. My husband couldn't bear the pain. He lost his life when I was in hospital.
You can see the scar in my right breast but not in the left breast
It was the time to leave Nusaybin, we were the first victims of forced migration. They didn't allow us to go. We left Nusaybin secretly. Me and my daughter in law took only our blankets and went to Diyarbakır by an oxcart. When we arrived in Diyarbakır, I departed to Istanbul with a bus the scar in my right breast but the pain in the left breast.
I was alone between millions of people
When we arrived to Istanbul, I relaized that everyone speaks another language. I didn't understand any of them. We tried to hide ourselves in the city. I found a hovel with the help of one of my relative. We leaded a poor life. We lived without food for 4 days. Then I bought the food from the store to pay later. Then my children started to work when they were children.
And the fall of the leafs started
My daughter Mülkiye joined the PKK. After the years, I learned she lost her life in Iran. And then my son Ali went on the same way of his sister. I learned that he also lost his life last year. The next was Aşikar and the last one Vasfi joined the PKK. One my son is a political fugitives in Russia now.
They tortured my son
My son Eyüp was arrested in 2001. They tortured him. When I visited him in prison, I couldn't recognize him. I screamed when I saw him. He told me ' If you cry, never come here again.". He became insane because of the torture.
We came back to our land. They told us the peace would be in these areas. We believed them and we came back to our land but it was a lie. One of my son is in the neighborhood Fırat. The polices killed his animals. If you ask me which time is worst, I can tell you today is worse then 90's.
