The demand of new schools from the children of Kobane in Van

WAN- The children who live in containers( the containers built for the Kobane’s families), said that the school which was opened and then closed have made a big gap in us. The children are demanding new schools to continue their education and meet new friends.
The people of Kobanê had to immigrate to the Kurdistan because of Deash attacks in Kobanê. The people of Kobane are continuing to pursue their life struggle in Van. Van Metropolitan Municipality opened a school for the people who live in containers but it was closed in summer peirod. The 75 children of Kobane said they are sad and they want a new school.
‘We are sad from closing the School'
A Kobane child P.S.(13) said they had education in Arabic, Kurdish and English in the school in Kobane. The school which was opened for us in Van immediately was closed and we are sad for that. P.S. said, “ A Kurdish school was opened here last year for us but it was not continued long time. It was closed and we are very sorry for that. We ask to open a school here for us. We feel ourselves have been put into a box.”
‘We want to acquire new knowledge '
Other child H.Y. (13) said, “ We do not do anything after the school has been closed. I pass most of my time without doing anything. I want to have new friends. I want to acquire new knowledge.”
‘That is not enough'
Another one of the children C.Y. said, “ We can only go to Mesopotamia Culture Center (MKM). We are feeling we are in prison. I was so happy when I was in Kobane. Last year a Kurdish school was opened and then closed. I am very sad for that. A new school should be opened for us here but not in other places. We go to Mesopotamia Culture Center (MKM) here. We have saz(an instrument) lessons there. We are happy there but that is not enough.”
'I miss the place where I was born'
H.M. (13) who came from Qamışlo and live with her mother in container, said, “ the school is very important for me.” She asks to reopen the school and she said, “I miss the place where I was born.”
