AMED - The members of initiative 'I march for the Peace' who came to Diyarbakır to protest the siege in Sur,stated that there is a huge difference between what we see and what they heard. The partisan medias do not reflect the truth.

I face myself by coming here

The members of initiative 'I march for the Peace' came to Diyarbakır from the cities in Turkey and Kurdistan on December 21 to protest the siege and onslaught in Sur district of Diyarbakır. Nebahat Gülhan,a member of the initiative, said, " There are difference between being here and looking from outside. Nothing is not same whit what we hear from the TV. No news are given as they are. For example, the medias did not make the news about the police attack on the first day we came to Sur.We were exposed to the police violence and we were beaten by police. We are experiencing the police violence in the West of Turkey but we saw that the police violence is more brutal here. No channel make the news about us.So it means that if you want to see or experience something, you should go there in the middle of the war.I started to face myself by coming here.

The Partisan medias do not reflect the truth

Feyza Taner, another woman who came from Bodrum, said, " The people like us who want to see the truths by coming here, do not follow the partisan medias or newspapers. Mostly we get the news on the internet. We can get the best news on internet. I had mixed feelings when I departed from Bodrum. The comfortable life in Bodrum was getting difficult for me. There is not a real sense of resistance in our region. Then we wanted to be with the people who resist. I wanted to be in solidarity with women because women and children are most damaged part in war.
