ŞIRNAK - Women have not been intimidated by the ongoing attacks in Silopi for 29 days. They said, "This is my home, even if no stone is left standing."
25 people have been killed in Silopi since December 14,2015. Taybet İnan and many other people were killed. Their bodies remained in the streets. State forces cut off the electricity and water in the district in order to make people leave their homes. They have even imposed an embargo on foodstuffs. They have destroyed the houses with tanks and artillery. Many people were forced to leave their houses.
Despite all attacks, many insist on staying in their homes. Meryem Sanırlı (43) whose house was demolished by tank fire in the Barbaros neighborhood of Silopi, said, "We never forget the savagery of state forces. The state sees all Kurds as enemies. So they demolish the houses with tank fire. They do not know who is there and they don't care because they know that these people are Kurdish. They destroyed my home with tank fire. I will never leave Silopi. This is my home, even if no Stone is left standing."
Another woman in Silopi, Narin Karataş pointed out that the state relies on their tanks and weapons to treat people with savagery. Reacting against the attacks on dead bodies,Narin said, " They treat our people's bodies with savagery. They think that we will bow if they demolish our houses. All people in Silopi hate the state. They can stay here with their tanks, weapons and armored vehicles. They can not boot us out by killing our children and people. I condemn this savagery."
