ŞIRNEX – Veysi Elçi, a resident of the town of Cizre shot this morning when security forces opened fire on the Şah neighborhood, has lost his life in hospital.

This morning, state forces opened fire on the Şah neighborhood, despite the lack of barricades and resistance in the neighborhood. A resident named Veysi Elçi was wounded and hospitalized in the Cizre State Hospital, but could not be saved.

State forces attempted the infiltrate the Cudi neighborhood this morning, leading to clashes that remained intense throughout the day. A resident named İhsan Baran was detained after a house raid in the Nur neighborhood.

A fire broke out in the town’s central Memuzin Hotel, whose third and fourth floors had previously been destroyed by artillery fire. Municipal firefighters arrived on the scene, but by the time they had put out the fire, it had spread to neighboring areas. The hotel later burned down entirely.
