AMED -Families have been on hunger strike for 13 days to retrieve their children's dead bodies. Peace Mothers started two-day hunger strike to support the families.

For 44 days, the residents of the Sur district of Diyarbakır have been maintaining a resistance as state attacks continue, killing many in the area, which is under a 24-hour curfew. Young Sur residents Mesut Seviktek and İsa Oran were killed on December 22, Ramazan Öğüt on December 30 and most recently Rozerin Çukur (16) on January 8. Turkish state forces in Sur have refused to allow the families to retrieve and bury their children's bodies. As a result, the families have been maintaining a hunger strike for the last 13 days. Yesterday, the Peace Mothers started two-day hunger strike to support the families.

From the Peace Mothers, Naime Ören said, "It is unacceptable to not being given the dead bodies. They formally torture the people by not given the bodies."

Zahide Oran, the mother of İsa Oran, said, " We see that the humanity is dead. There is a big war here but the whole world keeps silent. Some people are killed everyday in this war. The people are killed both part. We call everyone who have a conscience to support our action and our struggle."
