2 bodies of hunger strikers' children retrieved from Sur

AMED - The bodies of two people killed in the Sur district of Diyarbakır were retrieved from the district today. The two bodies were brought to Gazi Yaşargil Training and Research Hospital. The bodies were identified as those of İsa Oran and Mesut Seviktek.

İsa Oran and Mesut Seviktek were killed in the assault on December 23, 2015 in Sur. Their bodies could not be retrieved for 28 days. Their families have been on hunger strike for 28 days to take back their children's bodies. However, state forces refused to turn over the bodies of four young people killed in the assault.

Today, the district governorship called the IHD (Human Rights Association). They informed them that two bodies were retrieved from Yavuz Selim Primary School and they were sent to Gazi Yaşargil Training and Research Hospital. İhsan Seviktek, brother of Mesut Seviktek, and Mehmet Oran, the father of İsa Oran, went to the hospital with an IHD delegation. The families identified the bodies as those of İsa Oran and Mesut Seviktek. The families are still demanding the right to take posession of their children's bodies and bury them. Many people, including MEYA-DER and IHD delegations, have gathered in front of the hospital.
