Arrest, torture of wounded in Cizre

ŞIRNEX – After Turkish state forces opened fire on a crowd in the town of Cizre, three wounded in the attack were transported to Cizre’s city hall. Before the wounded could reach the hospital, police drove the wounded away in an ambulance.

This morning, a group attempting to evacuate wounded citizens under siege in the town of Cizre came under heavy police fire on Nusaybin Avenue. Some members of the group fled to the basement of a house, among them three people wounded in the attack; Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) Parliamentary representative Faysal Sarıyıldız; and the town’s co-mayor, Kadir Konur. An ambulance belonging to the city government managed to evacuate the three wounded individuals, a 16-year-old named Savaş; Nazar Ecevit; and Selahattin Ecevit.

When the ambulance reached city hall, police surrounded the building with armored vehicles. The police drove away the ambulance with the three wounded individuals inside. The police also arrested Şerafettin Elçi, a member of the city council.
