EFRÎN – After Turkish soldiers violated the Rojava border, the people of Efrîn Canton responded by protesting and dancing through the soldiers’ tear gas at the Turkey-Rojava border yesterday.

Turkish soldiers violated the border with Rojava by crossing into the village of Hemamê in Efrîn Canton. Yesterday, the residents of Efrîn responded by organizing a protest against the border violation and the continuing attacks on the people of Northern Kurdistan.

Hundreds of citizens gathered at the People’s House in the district of Cindirêsê, where they began a march to the village of Hemamê. The citizens, a majority of them women, marched with banners in Rojava’s colors of red, green and yellow. The group reached Hemamê, then continued marching as far as the border. The Turkish soldiers awaiting them there then attacked by firing live ammunition and tear gas across the border.

In spite of the attack, the marchers refused to abandon the borderline, singing folk songs and dancing traditional line dances. The group chanted slogans including “resistance is life” and “no to fear,” eventually returning to Cindirêsê.
