ŞIRNEX – In the town of Cizre, the Turkish state continues its attacks. For three days, Turkish state forces have attacked and bombed a building where 25 wounded individuals took refuge, with attacks only intensifying after desperate residents informed the police of the situation.

In the Cudi neighborhood of the besieged town of Cizre, Turkish state tanks fired artillery at a house three days ago, killing three and wounding 25. The ongoing intensive bombings and attacks on the building continue to prevent the wounded from escaping to be hospitalized.

Although the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) issued an injunction calling for the medical care of Cihan Karaman, Cihan passed away as the attacks continued. An unidentified young man and woman also succumbed to their wounds due to the ongoing attacks.

At Number 5 Caferi Sadık Avenue in Cizre, a group of Cizre residents wounded in an artillery attack have remained trapped in the basement for three days now. Yesterday, residents informed the government and police officials of the presence of the wounded in the building, with the hope that they would be able to evacuate the wounded. Instead, the bombardment of the area intensified. An unidentified young woman, who bled to death yesterday, was the most recent victim of the attack.

Cizre People’s Assembly co-chair Mehmet Tunç has been attempting to treat the people trapped in the basement at Number 5, but has reported that they have run out of medical equipment. Mehmet has reported that they have been forced to tear up pillows in search of a material to stop the bleeding. A resident who went out in search of water for the wounded last night was shot by state forces.

“The condition of the wounded here is deteriorating,” said Mehmet. He reported that some of the wounded are developing gangrene from their untreated leg wounds, and the basement has begun to smell severely. “Every death that takes place after this is an execution.”
