ŞIRNEX – Yesterday evening, Cizre resident Selami Yılmaz passed away in a basement in the town where he, along with dozens of other wounded residents, have been prevented from receiving medical treatment by Turkish state forces’ attacks.

Turkish state forces have maintained weeks of 24-hour martial law in the town of Cizre, in Şırnak province. As state forces attacked the Cudi neighborhood four days ago, 25 wounded residents took refuge in a basement with three dead bodies. The state began to intensify the attacks, preventing the residents from being evacuated to the hospital.

Selami Yılmaz, who had been shot in the leg, passed away from blood loss yesterday.

Four have now died in the basement in Cizre.
