ŞIRNEX - A mortar shell hit Şirin Altay's home in Silopi. She was seriously wounded and sent to Batman Hospital, where she passed away. People bid farewell to her in Silopi yesterday.

Şirin Altay was seriously wounded due to a mortar shell that hit her home on December 24 in the Silopi district of Şırnak, under martial law attacks at that time. Şirin was sent to Batman Hospital. After 32 days, Şirin lost her struggle to stay alive. After the autopsy in Diyarbakır, her body was sent to Silopi to be buried.

Şirin's family; Aycan İrmez, the province's MP; the HDP and DBP district managers; and many citizens participated in Şirin's funeral ceremony. Şirin was buried in the cemetery of Yenişehir neighborhood, under blockade by armored vehicles. The people shouted the slogan "martyrs never die" during the funeral ceremony.
