ŞIRNEX – As the Turkish state maintains a five-day attack on a house where the wounded have taken refuge in the besieged town of Cizre, another of the wounded, Nusrat Bayer, has died from lack of medical care.
For 45 days, Turkish state forces have maintained a genocidal attack on the town of Cizre, in Şırnak province. Five days ago, 28 residents were left trapped in a basement in the Cudi neighborhood when Turkish state forces targeted them in the attacks.
While locals have tried all possible routes to evacuate the wounded citizens, Turkish state forces have insisted on maintaining a heavy bombardment on the house and the surrounding area, denying medical care to the wounded. As the building begins to collapse on the wounded, the number who have passed away in the basement due to lack of medical care has now risen to five, as Cizre resident Nusrat Bayer succumbed to wounds sustained in the attacks.
Tank artillery and mortar fire continues to bombard the house as of this afternoon.
Earlier this morning, a mortar fired into the chimney of the house, flooding the basement with dust and soot.
According to Mehmet Tunç, the co-chair of the Cizre People’s Assembly attending to the wounded in the basement, the condition of two wounded children, Sultan Irmak (15) and Veli Çiçek (13), is rapidly deteriorating.
