ŞIRNEX – Communication has been cut with 23 wounded Cizre residents taking shelter in a house since armored vehicles assaulted the house yesterday afternoon.

When Turkish state forces launched an attack in the besieged town of Cizre six days ago, 28 people were wounded. The group took refuge in the basement of a house, which has become the target of heavy state assaults since then. Five of the wounded have succumbed to their wounds and several dead bodies remain in the basement. An ambulance sent to retrieve them was forced away by state forces. Since yesterday evening, all communication with the wounded has been cut.

Yesterday, the Cizre city government sent one ambulance and one hearse to the scene, but was stopped by police before it could reach the building. The most recent report from the besieged building itself was that armored vehicles had surrounded it and were calling for the seriously wounded residents inside to “surrender.”

Faysal Sarıyıldız, one of the province’s MPs, announced yesterday evening that those outside had been unable to contact those inside the house since the armored vehicles moved in.
