SHENGAL - Êzidîs had to flee to Federal Kurdistan Region and stay in Şarya Kamp due to Daesh attacks on Shengal. Êzidîs begin to return to liberated Shengal. Şehla, one of those returning to Shengal, said that they will reorganize their life in liberated Shengal.

Êzidîs had to leave their land due to Daesh attack on Shengal on August 3, 2014. After Shengal was liberated on November 13, 2015, Êzidîs are beginning to return to their lands. Mother of three Şehla, who had to flee to the Federal Kurdistan Region, said "Our home and land are more beautiful then other places. We wached the TV to have the good news of Shengal. As soon as we heard Shengal liberated, we prepared our stuffs and came back to Shengal.

I didn't want to leave my country. So I came back to my country with my husband and children. I am so happy to return to my city of Shengal. I feel peacefull here. I would never trade this for anything. I want to call on all Êzidî people; Come back to your country. There isn't anywhere like your land. People are happy in their lands. People need a community and communication. Shengal will go back to the old days. Shengal shouldn't be isolated."

Stating that the PKK provides security for Shengal, Şehla said, "Shengal is completely liberated from Daesh gangs. Guerillas provide us security. There are Êzidîs and peshmergas here like old days. We didn't feel safe in the camp in Duhok. But we feel safe in Shengal now. We are trying to reorganize our life. We believe that we will have a beautiful life. Êzidî and Shengal people should come back to their land. Let's come back and rebuild our life together."
