Soldiers planted mines on children's playground
Soldiers planted mines on an area where was known as children play area. Seven children died due to the mine explosion. Two of them, Esmer(12) and Botan (4) were Taybet's children. Taybet's husband, Halit İnan was arrested just because he filed a complaint against the state. He stayed in prison for 3 years. Halit said, "I went to Mardin to see my brother in prison. When I came back to home in the morning, I asked Taybet where are the children. She told me "they are playing outside".
"I went to out to check the children. Taybet and my brother's wife went to out to check the children together. They saw the soldiers gathered at the entrance of neighborhood. They went toward the crowd. They tried to talk to the soldiers to ask them if they know something about the children. However, the soldiers pointed guns on them. One soldier knew to speak Kurdish and Taybet told him her children were missing. That time they heard an explosion. Seven children were died in the explosion. Then we learned that two of them were our children Botan and Esmer.
State forces tortured my brother
"I went to take the dead bodies of my children. We buried seven children bodies in same grave because, the corpses were torn into pieces. A soldier came to near me and he asked me " Did PKK do that? I replied him "Not PKK but the state did". They asked the same question to my brother. He answered "The state did". They tortured him and put me in jail for 3 years."
Taybet was shot and killed
After 22 years of killing of her children, Taybet was killed by state forces. Halit told the incident, "When curfew was declared, I told Taybet to take the children and leave the city. She told me "I cannot leave. We had hard time to build our house, I never leave my house. If I die, I will in my house." We had breakfast together. She saw our house was burning. She went to out to put out the fire. She was shot in the leg by snipers of state forces. I went to out to help her. She told me "Halit doesn't come here. That time, my brother Yusuf heard Taybet was shot and wounded. He went to out to help her. However, the snipers shot and killed him. I called 155(first aid line). I told them that my wife and my brother were wounded in the street. They told us to carry a white flag and go to retrieve them. We carried white flag and go out, however, they opened fire on us. We tried to retrieve them three times and they opened fire on us three times. She remained on the street for seven hours and she died of blood lose."
Hezal İnan, mother of Halit, said, "1990s was bad, but these days are worse. They killed my son Yusuf in front of our house. He didn't do anything. They shot him. If an ambulance came to evacuate him, he would be alive now. State forces took the people on the street and they put them in the car in 1990s. Then we didn't received any news from them. Todays, they shot citizens. They left my son and daughter in law's bodies on the street. Then they took them. They didn't allow me even to see my son's dead body. They killed my grandchildren. They took into custody my sons and tortured them."
Halit said, "I will never surrender, I will resist to the last drop of my blood."
