ŞIRNEX – As Turkish state forces maintain martial law attacks on the town of Cizre, a pregnant woman named Zerin Uca had a heart attack. Because state forces blocked ambulance access, Zerin has passed away.

For 55 days, Turkish state forces have besieged the town of Cizre. The town’s sick or wounded residents continue to pass away as state forces deny medical access across the town.

22-year-old Zerin Uca, a resident of the town’s Sur neighborhood, had a heart attack in her home on Çalı Street today. Zerin was seven months pregnant. An ambulance called for Zerin arrived 1.5 hours late, leading to Zerin’s death.

When the family reacted angrily to the late ambulance, healthcare workers told them that the ambulance came late because it was stopped at police checkpoints.
