Democratic Alevi Women's Assembly declared

LEVERKUSEN - Co-chairs of Dervish conventbe and women's commissions, contained within Democratic Alevi Federation (FEDA) in many contries of Europe, declared Democratic Alevi Women's Assembly. The preparation of the congress was began.

Co-chairs of Dervish conventbe and women's commissions, contained within Democratic Alevi Federation (FEDA), gathered in the Leverkusen town of Germany. They declared the Democratic Alevi Women's Assembly.

Songül Ömürcan, from European Kurdish Women's Movement, made the opening statement. The statement read; "Alevis are targetted by Daesh. Many Alevis have been threatened in many cities. Thereby, Alevis need a system to defend themselves. The model of self-government is parallel to Alevis' faith values."

Hülya Yer, co-speaker of Democratic Alevi Associations (DAD) stated the situation in Kurdistan and she said, "Alevis should enter into this process. They also attacked to our faith centers. If we had organized, you wouldn't have experienced the massacre. We must organize against the oppression."

After the statements, Democratic Alevi Women's Assembly was declared. Bedrana Yıldırım, Huri Kabayel, Bemal Özdemir were elected as co-speakers of assembly. At the end of meeting, Democratic Alevi Women's Assembly announced that Kurdish people's demand of self-goverment is a legitimate right.
