AMED - Western women came to Diyarbakır for solidarity with the Kurdish people against the AKP's slaughter policy. They said, "We came to share the resistance of Kurdish women and stand by honorable struggle of the Kurdish people."

As the State's attacks on North Kurdistan against demand of self-government have continued, hundreds of women came to Diyarbakır for solidarity with the people. Hülya Kadi, co-chair of the HDP Hatay province, stated that the state has implemented a massacre policy on Kurds. She said, "We, as western women, came here to stand by honorable struggle of Kurdish people. Turkish media don't reflect what is going on in Kurdistan. We will try to tell the truth to the people as much as we can."

One of the women came to Diyarbakır, Hikmet Sarıoğlu, member of Central Committee of Socialist Refoundation Party, said, "We couldn't stay silent against the massacre in this part of Turkey. We are aware of the AKP government's war policy on Kurdish people. We came here to shout the slogans of peace together. We know the resistance of Kurdish women for years. Meanwhile, male state punish all political women especially in Kurdistan."

Fatma Kurt, member of We Will Stop Women Murders' Platform said they joined 'vigil for life' in Diyarbakır to object to oppression towards the Kurds. She said, "We came here to support the resistance of Kurdish people and women. We, as platform, are a women organization, fighting for the right to life. If there is an attack on the right to life, like in Kurdish cities, there will be a resistance against the fascism."
