WAN - Van women reacted the ongoing martial law under the name of "curfew" in North Kurdistan. They said, "We call on all Kurdish people to support our dauhters and sons who resist."
"We have daughters and sons who resist," said Çaldıran( town of Van) women and noted that the resistance against attacks would be continued. Antika Kara (65) evoked that soldiers launched raids on their house in 1990s and tortured their husbands, children, brothers and sisters. She stated that they had to keep silent due to threads that time. Antika said, "Soldiers launched raids to our houses each day. They plundered our houses. They closed us in our houses. They didn't allow us even look outside. We had to keep silent because they told us they would kill us. Today they do the same in Cizre (Şırnak province). They have trapped the people in a basement and leave them dead. But Kurds didn't bow to the pressures in 1990s and they won't bow again. We will fight to the last drop of blood. I call on all Kurds to support our daughters and sons who resist."
Feyfuri Şahin (60) said, "The state is carrying out inhumane practises. They will pay for this oppression."
Cahide Ökmez (45) witnessed the martial law in Silopi. She told us; "I went to Silopi to visit my daughter. One day later, curfew was declared. I stayed in Silopi for 15 days. We were 30 people and we stayed in a small room. There was a old man. He needed to breath so he went to out. Sniper shot and killed him. Our children couldn't fall asleep due to the gunfire. We were out of bread. Therefore, we made a fire to cook bread. However, state forces opened fire on us. They threated us "we will kill you if you don't leave". To make matters worse, they launched a raid on our house. They cleared us out of our house. We were exposed inhumane practises in Silopi. We tried to retrieve a wounded to hospital by carrying a white flag. However, they opened fire on us. Even they took all people to a gym. How long the people keep silent against these practises? Everyone must figth to not be a party to this massacre."
