ŞIRNEX – In the town of Cizre, under siege by Turkish state forces, 10 women have set out under white flags for a building where at least 20 were burned to death in a state attack earlier today and 15 wounded citizens remain trapped.
It emerged that Cizre residents are trapped and under assault by Turkish state forces in a basement in the Sur neighborhood, the third such “basement of savagery” to emerge. This morning, Derya Koç (former co-chair for the Peoples’ Democratic Party [HDP] in the Milas district in western Turkey) called her father and reported that she was among dozens trapped in a basement in the Sur neighborhood of Cizre. Derya reported that as many as 20 of those in the basement had burned to death in a state attack and that she was among 15 survivors who “could be killed any minute.”
Ten women in Cizre have set out for the Sur neighborhood under white flags. They hope to stop state forces from executing the 15 survivors trapped in the basement.
Heavy bombing of the area around the building has been ongoing throughout the day.
