Woman to lodge a complaint against police

WAN - Adalet Yeşilırmak was battered by Turkish police during a raid on house of the DBP co-chair Sener Yeşilırmak in Başkale. She said she would lodge a complaint against the police.

Turkish police carried out a raid on house of the DBP co-chair Sener Yeşilırmak on Saturday in Van's district Başkale. Sister of Sener Yeşilırmak, Adalet Yeşilırmak was battered by police. She went to Başkale State Hospital to take a report of health. However, there is no word about she was battered in the report. Adalet said she would complain about the hospital staff.

Adalet said the raid took place in the morning hours on Saturday and she woke up with the sound of the door at 5:00 a.m. "As I opened the curtain, I saw the police. They said, "Open the door or we will shoot you ." I was dithered. I tried to open the door but I couldn't because I was scared. Then I could open the door. They got into our house. One of them battered me with a gun stroke. They held gun to all people's head in the house."

Adalet said she lost blood and then her consciousness after battering by police. Her parents told her that she had remained on the ground for 15 minutes when the ambulance arrived to house. She asked a report of health from doctor to prove she had been battered by police. "Police came to Hospital while I was asking the report of health. Then the doctor told me he could not give a health report to me. They even didn't have a computed tomography scan from me."

"They could kill us. One police put a gun to my brother's head while two of them put gun to my mother's head," said Adalet. She applied to Human Rights Association Branch in Van and she would lodge a compaint against the police.
