SHENGAL – As Turkish state attacks continue to target the Kurdish people and especially women, members of the Women’s Assembly in the recently liberated city of Shengal have promised to struggle to call the killers to account.
The Shengal Women’s Assembly has released a written statement regarding the ongoing attacks on towns and provinces in Northern Kurdistan.
The women stressed that while genocidal attacks attempt to wipe out the Kurdish people, the Kurds have fought back in the resistances in Rojava, Shengal and Northern Kurdistan.
“The Turkish state and Erdoğan, and their partner Daesh, have always targeted the Kurdish people’s resistance,” said the women. “They have attempted to wipe out and assimilate the Kurdish people’s resistance using inhumane and savage methods. Now these raving monsters are attempting to repeat this savagery in Cizre, Silopi, Mardin, Sur and many cities of Kurdistan, just as they have in many times and places before.”
The women condemned the recent incident in which security forces killed an unknown woman in Cizre and stripped her naked, then posed with the dead body. The photograph shows signs of torture.
“Whether in Cizre or [largely Turkish town of] Uşak; whether in Iran or Canada; in the end, you are stripping a woman naked, torturing her and savagely killing her,” said the women. “This approach is no different from that of Daesh.”
The women promised to call to account all those who kill and torture women.
