AMED – In the blockaded Sur district of Diyarbakır, reporter Mazlum Dolan from Dicle News Agency (DİHA) has sent new text messages with updates on the conditions in the district and in the besieged basement where he is trapped.
For 79 days, Turkish state forces have maintained a blockade on the historic Sur district of Diyarbakır. As the nonstop attacks on the district continue, DİHA reporter Mazlum Dolan has been left trapped in a basement in Sur along with around 200 people from Sur families. Mazlum has been reporting from Sur since the first day of the blockade, and has now been trapped in a besieged basement since yesterday. Mazlum sent updates on the situation in the basement.
“There is heavy mortar fire, as well as tank fire and shelling. There’s no service; I’m only able to send messages. You all write messages to,” wrote Mazlum.
When colleagues wrote asking Mazlum if he could send photos, he replied, “Unfortunately, I can’t send photos. There’s a small phone; it has a charge. I’m using that now.”
