MÊRDÎN - Dılşah Ak, slain when armored vehicles opened fire on her in Nusaybin, has been carried to her final rest on the shoulders of women.
Yesterday evening, Turkish state forces raked the Abdulkadirpaşa neighborhood of Nusaybin with gunfire, slaying 50-year-old woman Dılşah Ak near the Seyitler Mosque. Thousands attended a funeral ceremony for Dılşah today in Nusaybin.
The crowd gathered in front of the funeral home in the Devrim neighborhood, among them the town's co-mayors, MPs and activists. The ceremony began with a minute of silence.
Dılşah's older sister Hafife Yıldırım, speaking after the prayer, said that her sister was a martyr of the Kurdish people.
Women carried Dılşah's coffin on their shoulders as the crowd, chanting slogans, marched in the thousands to the Hacılar cemetery. Women led the burial of the body.
