Women discuss communal economy in Mardin

MÊRDÎN - 1.Preparatory Workshop of the Women's Economic Conference was organized by Mardin components of the Free Women's Congress (KJA). Women discussed the female labor in democratic, ecological and communal economy.
"1.Preparatory Workshop of the Women's Economic Conference" was organized by Mardin components of the Free Women's Congress (KJA). The Workshop was held at the Multipurpose Meeting Hall of the Metropolitan Municipality Cultural and Social Affairs Department of Tourism. Februniye Akyol Akay, co-mayor of Mardin Metropolitan Municipality, women academics, female managers of non-governmental organizations and many other women participated in the Workshop. A banner hanged on the meeting hall. The banner reads; "Let us communize our land, water and energy, let's build a free democratic life". Februniye Akyol Akay made an opening speech. Februniye stated that there were many women movements in the history of world, "However, no movements have had the claims of the Women Kurdish Freedom Movement so far."
Februniye stated that women were always in the background of the labor and the production in Mardin like many other places. "Women are always kept in the background. There is an idiom, "Behind every great man there's a great woman". We don't agree with this idiom. Why do people try to give the women's success to men? Our aim is to give the success to its owner."
After the speech, women discussed the issues; "Definition of labor, approach to Women's Labour", "Women's Invisible Labor", "Women's Work Life, Employment Policies" and "Alternative Approaches to Women's Labour and mechanisms". The workshop was ended after the suggestions.
