ŞIRNEX – Yıldız Cûdi, YPS-JIN commander, made statements about Kurdish people's resistance for self-government. She commented on the attacks by Turkish state forces on Kurdish people’s resistance. “Excluded people, those under the Turkish nation-state’s oppression, must reveal their willpower. Kurdish people want to govern themselves with their language, identity and culture. This is a national stance. This resistance is a struggle to take back their right which has been usurped. YPS, meanwhile, is the guarantee of democratic autonomy," said Yıldız.
Yıldız Cûdi, one of the commanders of YPS-JIN, spoke to JINHA about the Kurdish people’s resistance for self-government and the attacks by Turkish state forces on Kurdish people’s resistance. “The ruling system is ruling as a nation-state. They don’t recognize different cultures, languages and people’s willpower. They even attack people who resist against this.
“When we look at the world, we can see regional initiatives come forward. Excluded people are trying to find an area to live with their language and culture. We can see these kind of examples in America, India and many other countries and cities. People live under a federation system in some places, while others live under a system of autonomy or canton system.”
Yıldız mentioned that popular resistance is very meaningful in North Kurdistan. “The resistance in Cizre, Sur, Silopi, Nusaybin, Derik, Dargeçit and Şırnak is very meaningful. How can we evaluate this resistance? First, there is a national aspect to this resistance. So what is the national aspect of this resistance? Kurdish people want to govern themselves with their language, their identity and their culture now. This is a national stance. Kurdish people want to live in their lands without occupation and genocide. Of course, we must think about the economic, legal, cultural, health and social needs in this resistance. People want to meet their needs without the state’s oppression. This is a very natural demand.
“Kurdish people don’t want to have education without the Kurdish language. Kurdish people want to be treated in their health facilities. Kurdish people don’t accept the systematic assimilation which has been imposed on them.” Yıldız stressed that Turkey is currently operating through a very severe fascism. “Central governance denies all the differences of Turkey. The people who don’t accept this have been killed, arrested or silenced.
“People declared self-government to have their rights. The area where self-government has been declared have been liquidated. Then, issues of trenches and barricades came to the fore. If the state attacks its own people, the people have the right to protect themselves with self-defense. Self-defense is one aspect of self-government that protects the Kurds from the attacks. YPS is a force to protect Kurdish people’s values. YPS is the guarantee of democratic autonomy.
“Many people have been killed. People lost their homes. The AKP’s government does the same in Kurdistan that Daesh did in Syria. However, they must know that just as Daesh lost in Kobanê, the AKP will lose in Kurdistan. We, as YPS and YPS-JIN, give our word to the people that we will reach victory.”
