"I will call to account those who murdered my husband"

ŞIRNEX - Mahmut Duymak (51) was killed in Cizre's first "basement of savagery". His ashes was given to his family. His wife Lütfiye said, "They gave me five kilos bones and told me 'Here is your husband'. I will call to account of those murdered my husband."

Father of six Mahmut Duymak (51) was killed in Cizre's fisrt "basement of savagery". Mahmut lived in the Cudi neighborhood of Cizre. He worked in local transport business. His village named Deştalelanwas burned by state forces in 1990s. He and his family had to leave their village to the Tarsus district of Mersin. They returned to Cizre, to their lands in 2001. His family left the Cudi neighborhood to Nur neighborhood due to state forces's attacks. However, he decided to stay in Cudi to help the wounded people.

Mahmut was with the MP HDP Faysal Sarıyıldız and the İMC TV cameraman Refik Tekin on January 20. They tried to reach the wounded in the basements by carrying white flags. State forces opened fire on the people and killed three citizens and wounded nine citizens, including the İMC TV cameraman Refik Tekin. Mahmut went to Cudi neighborhood with a citizen named Ahmet Tunç to evacute the wounded. Mahmut had taken refuge in a basement which calls as "basement of savagery" in Cudi neighborhood after his friend killed.

Mahmut's body was identified after DNA test. His body was completely burned. His wife Lütfiye Duymak stated that she would never stop following her husband's murderer. "It doesn't matter where they go, I will not stop following them. I will never stop following this case. We will call to account those who murdered my husband.

"They killed my husband and today they gave me five kilos bones of my husband by saying here is your husband. They killed my husband savagely. They burned him."
