Women prepare for March 8 with spirit of resistance

AMED - Women will prepare for March 8 with a slogan "Women resist for their leader and their freedom." ("Leader" refers to jailed PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan.) Zübeyde Zümrüt, a member of the Congress of Free Women (KJA) Diyarbakır Provincial Coordination pointed out that the slogan has great importance for women. "We give our word to Sêvê, Fatma and Pakize that their way is our way. Their word is our word," said Zübeyde. DBP Assembly member Sêvê Demir, Silopi People's Assembly co-chair Pakize Nayır and KJA activist Fatma Uyar were murdered by Turkish forces in Şırnak's Silopi district on January 5.

Zübeyde said that the excitment of March 8 have already surrounded all women and their slogan of March 8 has great importance for them. "Our this year's slogan has great importance for us. Because we, as women, owe many thing to our leadership. We must to resist seriously with the slogan "Women resist for their leader and their freedom." said Zübeyde.

"We declare mobilization of our organization on International Women's Day. We will tell every woman about March 8. We set out down this road with the spirit and resistance of March 8. We conducted activites in neighborhoods, villages and cities. Women are more excited this year. This year we have to prepare the activities for March 8 without Sêvê. We give our word to Sêvê, Fatma and Pakize that their way is our way. Their word is our word," said Zübeyde.
