Women announce their activities for March 8

NEWS CENTER- Women in Kurdistan and Turkey have announced that their activities for March 8, International Women's Day.

The Kurdistan women's organization Congress of Free Women (KJA) have announced that their activities for March 8, International Women's day in Diyarbakır, Şırnak, Hakkari, Van, Bitlis, Antep, Mersin, Istanbul and Adana. KJA women will be in the street with a slogan "Women resist for their leader and their freedom." ("Leader" refers to jailed PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan.) The March 8 activities will begin in the town of Silopi, where Kurdish women politicians Sêvê Demir, Pakize Nayir and Fatma Uyar were slain by state forces earlier this year in the siege on the town, which had declared self-government. KJA women called on all women to participate in the activities for March 8.

Meanwhile, Confederation of Public Workers' Unions (KESK) women will hold their activities for March 8, International Women's Day, for 2016 with the slogan "We insist on our struggle for our life and job security." Women demand that The Kurdish problem must be solved by returning to the negotiating process, not with policies of annihilation and denial. March 8 must be declared as public holiday.

Adana Women's Platform also announced that their activities for March 8. Women will send cards to female prisoners. Women will hold a public demonstration for March 8, on March 5 in Adana.
