AMED- As the vigil has been continued to lift the blockade on Sur, Reyhan Kavak Özbek, former co-chair of Bağlar DBP, is one of the civilians who have been trapped in Sur's basement. We contacted Reyhan by phone. She said that they would make copper necklaces for children in case of massacre.

For 91 days, the siege and onslaught have continued in the Sur district of Diyarbakır. Diyarbakır people began a vigil to lift the blockade in in Tigris Euphrates Cultural Center. Yesterday, women and political leaders joined to the vigil. The women from Women's Initiative for Peace (BİKG) came from Istanbul to join the vigil. As the vigil has been continued, the sound of explosions rises from Sur.

Four-month-old Elif Su, children and women have been trapped in basement for 14 days. We contacted Reyhan Kavak Özbek, former co-chair of Bağlar DBP by phone. Reyhan stated that more than 200 civilians have been trapped in several basements. One of the basement was demolished and they took out three people from the debris. They are seriously wounded.

Reyhan said that Elif Su cries day and night and they had to stuff cotton into their ears due to the loud noises. They talked about Cizre's massacre. The children heard them and they made a suggestion. "After our talk, the children made a suggestion. They said, "If we are burned, no one will recognize us. Let's make necklaces for us and write our names on them." So we are trying to make copper necklaces for children and write their names on them. This evening we'll put necklaces on all of them. We called another basements too. We told them to make necklaces for the children there too."

"Everyone must be with Sur's resistance and break the blockade. Or, a second Cizre massacre will take place. We are under bombardment. They say that they make announcements. We can hear only the sound of bombs. We don't want any corridor. Because, the people who went out for corridors, are now in jail. We are civilians. Even if the blockade is only lifted for 24 hours, we will leave." said Reyhan.
