AMED - "Helin loved women and poems. If my daughter was alive, she would write something about resistance of women," said Nazlı Şen. 12- year- old Helin Hasret Şen is one of children who were killed by state forces. Helin went out to buy bread on October 12, 2015. She was shot and killed in Sur. Her murderer hasn't been found yet.
Helin Hasret Şen (12) was shot and killed on October 12, 2015 while she and her mother went out to buy bread during four-day curfew which was declared in Sur. She was shot in head and killed by fires from armored vehicles. Helin hadn't known what is "curfew" when she was detached from life. Helin's family lived in the Hasırlı neighborhood of Sur. They had to leave Sur after their daughter had been killed. "My daughter was killed six months ago, but I am feeling the same pain like the first day. I sent Helin's stuff to my brother. When I miss her, I go there and I fulfill her longing."
Helin lived in a house in the Hasırlı neighborhood with 36 people, her brother, sister, parents and uncles's families. Helin wished to have her own room. Her mother Nazlı was married when she was 14 years old. She had a child, Helin, when she was 15 years old. Nazlı stated that she and Helin were like friends. "Helin was my friend. We grew together. We played together. We did almost everything together. My daughter told me "Mom, let's rent another house, I want to have my own room. The house can be small." We looked for a house before the curfew was declared. They took the wind out of our sails."
Nazlı just wants to find her daughter's murderer. Nazlı is sure that the murderer will never be revealed. Nazlı said that Helin loved to write poems and sing, " Helin loved to write poems and sing the songs. She wrote many poems in her notebooks. I sent all of them to my brother who lives in Bursa. Helin admired women ,therefore, she wrote the poems about women. If my daughter was alive now, she would write a poem about the resistance of women."
"Whenever my son see a police, he says "They killed my sister." My daugher Cennet (5) asks me "Where is my sister? I want my sister." I tell her "Your sister won't come back."
"We hadn't eaten anything for three days due to curfew. First, I went to store and I bought apples. I gave one of them to her. I heard that the bakery was opened. I went out to buy bread. I heard a gunshot as I almost arrived to bakery. I saw Helin in blood as I turned back. Helin couldn't eat her apple.
"State forces called us and they told us "Police didn't kill your daughter." I saw them. They killed my daughter. They will give an account of killing my daughter." said Nazlı.
