Asya Yüksel, co-chair of Cizre People' Assembly, risked death by staying with the wounded who had been trapped in Cizre's "basements of savagery". There is still no word from Asya. Her mother, Emine Ürün, is looking for her daughter in each basement and trying to get information about her daughter. Emine called her daughter after she learned that Asya was trapped in a basement. "I asked her if there were wounded in the basement. She told me, 'We're OK, mom. Yes, there are wounded people. There are dead people, too. But we're OK." I contacted her once per day. Then, I didn't get any information from her for a week. She called me one week later. She was in the second basement. Nine people were burned to death in this basement. She told me, 'I could be killed or arrested. Mom, don't cry for me.' I told her, 'A mother cries for her daughter.' She told me, 'Don't cry. I entrust you to my daughter and son.'" said Emine.
Emine said that she hasn't got any information from her daughter for 26 days. "We don't know if she is alive. We haven't found her dead body. I wonder for my daughter. I will follow my daughter's path until I die. I am proud of my daughter. But, I am worry about her. Where is my daughter? I don't know where she is."
Emine stated that she respected her daughter's path. "But when she became co-chair, I told her, 'You have children.' She told me, 'I have to do my duty.' Many did as she did. My son was also martyred on this path in 1995. I saw his body. But I didn't cry. I held my head high. If I learn that my daughter has been martyred, I will do the same."
