Women celebrate March 8 behind the barricades

MÊRDÎN - Nusaybin women and members of the Women's Defense Organization (YPS-JIN) celebrated March 8 behind the barricades. They called on all women, "We call on all women to join the resistance."
March 8, International Women's Day was celebrated in the Nusaybin district of Mardin under the leadership of the Women's Defense Organization (YPS-JIN). The activity was organized in the Fırat neighborhood of Nusaybin. Many women participated in the activity. A message was read in the activity. The message reads; "We wish a happy March 8, International Women's Day, to all resistant women who have taken part in the struggle for freedom. The Kurdish people's leader Rêber Apo (refer to Abdullah Öcalan, the leader of the PKK) brings Kurdish women's struggle for freedom to these days. We salute all resistant women and Kurdish women who rise from their ashes in Rojava as the Women's Protection Units (YPJ), in Shengal as Shengal Women Unite (YJŞ) and in North Kurdistan as Women's Defense Organization (YPS-JIN).
Women have taken over the flag of struggle in Cizre, Sur, Kerboran, Gever, Derik, Hezex, Şırnak, Nusaybin and other cities in Kurdistan. Women have fighted against colonial system and continued to write a history.
Sêvê, Pakize and Fatma used their bodies as a shield against the massacre policies in Silopi for self-government resistance. ( Democratic Regions Party (DBP) Parliament Member, Seve Demir, Free Woman Congress (KJA) member, Fatma Uyar, and Silopi People's Assembly Co-Chair, Pakize Nayır were killed in the Silopi district of Şırnak on January 4). They became a symbol of the struggle of the YPJ-JIN. We call on all women to come behind the barricades and resist with us against the massacre policies."
After reading the message, women danced the halay with their colorful dresses.
